Welcome To My Blog

To help you select the stories and poetry you might want to read, below is the list of all posts made to my blog since its inception. Posts are listed in chronological order from the first post made on April 18, 2019, until the most recent post (The most recent post appears first on the blog). Please browse the list of posts to find the titles that most intrigue you. Then do one of the following:

1.         Place the title of the post in the space beneath the header, “Search This Blog.” With regard to poetry, a post may contain more than one poem. You may have to insert the first two poems listed to find what you want. Then click on search. The posting should appear at the top of the screen for you to read. Or . . .

2.         Using the date a particular posting was made, go to the “Blog Archive” to the right of the posts and click on the particular month in which the poem or short story was posted and scroll down until you find what you would like to read. Please note that if you scroll through all the posts on the screen and don’t find what you are looking for, below the last post on the screen, on the right, are the words, “Older Posts.” Click on this and you will find the additional posts made during the particular month you have selected. Scroll through these until you find the story or poem you wish to read.

Enjoy the journey, as you read the creations of my heart and my mind.

Thank you.

If you didn’t do it, how can you do it again? Sometimes this can lead to a conversation that goes nowhere.

You face off against your opponent, and . . .

Re . . .

“Please repeat what you just said,” my teacher asked,

somewhat bemused.

I answered, “I’m not able to do so because I didn’t peat it in the first place,

so I need to be excused.”

“But the class isn’t over, so if you’ve got to go,

go quickly and return soon.”

“Okay, I’m leaving now, but I didn’t turn,

so how can I return this afternoon.”

“If you don’t come back before the class is over,

you will receive a bad grade.”
“Are you pulling my leg? I didn’t ceive, so how can I receive?

Of you, I’m not afraid.”

“Recant now or you’ll have to go to the principal’s office

until the end of the day.”

“That’s not going to happen. I can’t re . . .,

if I didn’t cant at all any time today.”

“This is getting completely out of control,

so please recite after me.”

“That’s impossible because I never did cite before you.

Can’t you see?”

“I recommend that you stop behaving like a spoiled brat

and recompose yourself immediately.”

“Well, I commend you on your efforts, but don’t agree with what you say

and suggest you compose yourself satisfactorily.”

It’s your job to be a role model for your children. You try your best.

However, things don’t always go the way you planned. But you still say, . . .

“I Love You”

Live and let live.

That’s always been my motto.

But this has gone too far.

My only son, you may be.

But the way you wear your hair,

An earring in your ear,

And those offbeat clothes—

You’re driving me crazy.

Vocal about it

I’ve tried not to be.

For it’s your life,

I’ve told myself.

However, the time

will come,

When I have to set

You straight,

Or you’ll never

Make something

Of yourself.

But for now

I’ll just say,

“I love you.”

“Don’t bug me!” I screamed. Some bugs frighten me, but others touch my heart.

When I stared at the delightful colors of one of these, I mused, . . .

“Butterfly, Oh My!”

Looking out my window on a bright, sunny August day, I saw the most beautiful copper and bronze winged butterfly.

It flew like a small plane, carried by the soft flow of air, as it passed quietly by.

My eyes stayed glued to this wonderful creature, as its wings moved gently up and down, and it looked at me and I wondered why.

What had I done to deserve the attention of this special being? The thought touched my heart and I felt a tear of joy in my right eye.

My new friend circled up and away and back, as it made its way in the gorgeous blue sky.

As it disappeared once again, I opened the window to get a better look at where it was going. Its beauty, I couldn’t deny.

But it didn’t go, it returned and landed on the branch of the elm tree next to my house and stared at me in a way that wasn’t shy.

It appeared to want to engage me in conversation, but what could I expect from a charming, but silent, butterfly.

My heart beat out of control, as I awaited what might come next. Uneasy, a part of me wanted this to be over, but something told me to stand by.

Then my world changed in way I never could have imagined. As I moved back from the window, the princess on the limb flapped its wings, took off, and landed inside my home with a sigh.

“I am yours, if you want me,” she murmured. And then a crown appeared upon the head of a now very attractive young woman, humming a pleasant lullaby.

If dreams come true, they did that day. For “Princess” Jennifer and I fell in love, in a way that only occurs in fairy tales. We married and lived happily ever after, as family and friends will testify.
